Delivery Information

How do I deliver to Malt Whisky Agency?

Malt whisky delivered to our office will be accepted for our next sale until advised otherwise on the website. If you are unable to get the item or items to us, we can organise uplift by courier.

We are open from  Monday – Friday 09:00 – 17:00 GMT and may be able, by special arrangement in advance, be available on Saturday morning between 09:00 – 13:00 GMT for delivery or collection of bottles.

Can I change my delivery address?

You can change the delivery address by signing in to your account and going to the ‘My Account’ section and changing your billing address.

Alternatively call us on 01786 542288. In some cases we may be able to help even after your order has been sent.

How secure is shipping of bottles to buyers?

We only use reputable couriers who have tracking facilities, so we/you can check the progress of the delivery. Delivery has to be signed for by the recipient.

Can I collect my order?

Please click “Local Pick-Up” from the delivery options when you buy online and we’ll let you know when it’s ready to collect. Orders are normally available within a few hours. You can collect during office opening times.

Please bring your order confirmation for collection.

Can I have my order delivered to a PO BOX address?

Sorry! We do not currently deliver to PO Box addresses, but almost any other UK address.

Can I have my ordered delivered to a BFPO address?

Sorry! We only deliver/ship to the clients billing address.

How quickly do I receive my bottle?

Once payment has been received and cleared, bottles are sent out by courier and thereafter it depends on your worldwide location. This would be within days. Our selling point is the speed of the process.

Do I need to sign for my order?

Yes please. If you’re not at home to take the delivery, it’s easy to rearrange delivery. The courier will request photographic identification for confirmation.

How do I arrange redelivery of my order?

If delivery has been attempted by the courier company and been unsuccessful then you can arrange redelivery by contacting the courier directly. Just use the click through reference on your confirmation email or reply to the SMS text to advise the courier what you would like to happen.

If the package has been returned to us and you want to arrange another delivery then you will need to get in touch with us (this will incur additional charges)

How do I track my order?

Once we’ve posted your order we’ll send you an email – with tracking details or you can click the “My Account / Order Status” link at the top right hand side of our site to track your order.

What are my delivery options?

Delivery: Delivered to billing address only, costs vary based upon location.

Pick-Up:  Collect the bottle in person. (No charge)

Delivery is automatically calculated prior to submitting your payment information. Add items to your Shopping Basket and proceed to the Checkout page where you will be offered Delivery Method and their prices.

Where do you deliver?

Our couriers will deliver to all places where they operate, virtually worldwide. Some countries and states within the United States do not allow alcohol to enter.

The US states are:

  • Mississippi
  • North Dakota
  • Pennsylvania
  • Utah

*Only major cities in Arkansas.

Adult signature is required on delivery.

States AK and HI require an additional £20 sub-charge.

Who will deliver my order?

Deliveries to most mainland UK & European addresses will be couriered by DHL. Outside of Europe will vary on location.

When will my order be delivered?

 After payment has been received and cleared, our aim is to get your bottle to you as soon as possible.

Helpful Information

Is there a limit on the number of items I can sell?

We are happy to accept as many bottles that you wish to sell. Multiple bottles of new releases are limited to the discretion of the agency and may be discussed to what is acceptable prior to being sent to us.

Can bottles be insured?

We can insure your bottles at a cost of 3% of the insured value as most courier companies do not cover glass or alcohol. We require to be advised of your intention at checkout.

What is the Watch List?

The watch list allows you to monitor progress of bottles interest which we are selling within current sale, this can be accessed via “My Account” then clicking “My Watchlist”. It’s a more efficient method of watching the bottles you are interested in.

To start your watch list all you need is a registered account. Then simply click the “Add to Watch List” button on the product details page, and the product will be added to your watch list. Your watch list can be viewed at any time by clicking the “View my Watch List” section within “My Account”. Whenever you’re ready to place an offer on an item in your watch list simply click the bottle’s “Add to Cart” button on this page.

What does Malt Whisky Agency sell?

We only sell malt whisky – we don’t sell e.g. blended whisky, liqueurs, miniatures, whisky publications, ceramic decanters, glassware, clothing etc.  We may however make exceptions at our discretion for outstanding customer opportunities. “The majority of whiskies we offer will fall under the malt whisky bracket. However, you may just find one that’s not – but that just means it’s a special”.

How does the online sale of my malt whisky work?

Registration – once registered as a “Buyer” or “Seller” you will be given your Account “User Id”.

Account – when you select your account you will see your “Account  ID Number” and 8 options connected to your account e.g. Address (can check your details) – Buying (what you are buying or bought) – Selling (what you are selling or sold) – Watchlist (what you are watching in the sale) – Compare (compare with other products in the sale) – Basket (hold the product) – Checkout (paying product) 

Receiving your Whisky – when we receive your whisky it is examined, photographed and a sale price agreed.

Viewing Products – select the magnifying glass icon to view a product  in more detail  or select the heart icon to put into your “Watchlist”.

Submitting Offers – Select basket if only to buy 1 off  or type a number to buy more than 1 off. 

Collection or Delivery – When the payment process is complete the buyer can either collect from us or have their whisky sent by courier with a tracking number which you will receive in an email.

Payments – the seller will receive payment as soon as funds are available.

What is the value of my malt whisky?

Current market conditions determine the value of your malt whisky. The seller can determine the minimum price they wish for the whisky.  It would be helpful to send a description and photograph to us at:

or fill in our “Sale Entry Form” where you can provide details of your whisky and return to us.

Do you do returns?

We do not normally accept returns or exchanges, all orders are checked before distribution. We can only consider returns or exchanges if goods are damaged under exceptional circumstances.

How do I Register and Create an account?

The first option is to select the Log in/Register “link” at the top of our site.

Enter your email address and select “Register”

On completion of registering and creating an account you will be given an account Id Number.

Your information is NEVER sold to any other company and is kept completely private. Please view our Privacy Policy for more information.

How do I edit my account information?

You can select “My Accountthen “My Address” or “My Address” from the foot of the page then the link to edit your account details.

Pricing and Billing

What does it cost to sell my malt whisky?

An agreed fee plus Vat at 20% to buyers within the UK. Vat is not charged to buyers outwith the EU.

How can I pay for my order?

When do I get paid?

Once the buyer’s payment has been processed and the transaction is complete payment is made to the seller as soon as possible.

I need a copy of my receipt/invoice

The buyer or Seller will have been emailed an “Order Receipt” with an “Order Reference Number” which provides you with the details of your purchase. Otherwise please contact us at info@maltwhiskyagency.com or Telephone: 01786 542288 and we will be happy to provide a copy.

When will my payment card be charged?

When the payment process has completed.

Malt Whisky Agency recognises the client’s right to privacy. All information we collect about you remains private and is in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. Certain portions of our web site require you to sign in or create an account. Your private information (which may include your name, address, email address, and other information) is not shared/sold to any individuals or organisations outside of Malt Whisky Agency unless you have authorised us to do so.

Track my order

I’ve received my order but it’s damaged. What do I do?

Please don’t sign if your product is damaged and the courier will return it to us. We will be in touch once we receive the product.

If you find  your product is damaged after you have signed for it, please let us know and we will look into it for you.
