Aberlour Distillery
The distillery was built by James Fleming in 1879 producing whisky from 1880. He died in 1895 aged 65 and is buried in the village cemetery opposite the distillery.
It was bought by Robert Thorne & Sons who later sold it to W. H. Holt & Sons in 1921, a brewery near Manchester. It changed hands again in 1945 to S. Campbell & Sons Ltd.
In 1975 Pernod Ricard acquired Campbell Distilleries, and they joined with Chivas Brothers in 2001 and eventually opened a visitors centre.
The whisky comes in a variety of ages 10, 12, 15, 16, 18 year old and rare 30-year-old 1970 vintage malt, as well as a cask strength releases.
