Tasting Notes-Ardbeg Drum-Limited Edition 2019
Colour: Dark gold.
Nose: Smoked apple and pineapple, ripe banana, fragrant pine resin and subtle woodsmoke. Dry coco powder, cinnamon and ginger spiced dates and ‘floating’ lavender notes.
Taste: Peppery texture, huge smoky palate, oil, tar, creosote, rich dark chocolate. A treasure of spices-clove, liquorice and ginger mingles with smoked vanilla.
Finish: Intense smoke on the finish, more spice with a sweet coffee liqueur finish.
Notes from Ardbeg distillery.
The distillery can be found in a small cove off the south coast of Islay. It was in 1815 that the distillery was established and founded by John McDougall.
After running into some financial difficulties the distillery closed in 1981 and it was not until 1989 that distillation resumed, although on a very small scale. After closing again in 1996, then owners, Allied Domecq, put the distillery up for sale.
It was bought in 1997 by Glenmorangie Co. and restored to its former grandeur.
You will always find the staff very friendly and helpful.
