Tasting Notes-Arran 15 Year Old French Oak Bordeaux 52.8%
At first whiff there are ripe dark berries with freshly rolled cigars.
The gentle tobacco aroma is embraced by the sweetness of vinous sultanas and cassis.
Afternoon tea with chocolate raspberry truffles, candied ginger, scones with clotted cream and orange marmalade and almond & cinnamon croissants.
Silky and luscious tannins are a reminder of the elegant wine once contained in these casks.
The distillery was opened in 1995, at Lochranza, in the north of the Island. It is the perfect location for producing the perfect Malt.
The area is home to the purest water in all of Scotland, water that’s been cleansed by granite and softened by peat as it slowly meanders from the mountaintops into nearby Loch na Davie.
Only the traditional methods of distilling are used, with wooden wash-backs and copper stills, designed to an exact specification. Peat is not used in the production process or caramel for artificial colouring unlike many other distilleries.
All Single Malts are non-chill-filtered, which means they are natural in pigment and exactly the way whisky should be.
