Information from the bottle
Auchentoshan is located at the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills on the outskirts of Clydebank in West Dunbartonshire near the Erskine Bridge in the West of Scotland. The distillery is also known as Glasgow Malt Whisky due to being close to Glasgow, in the Lowlands Region.
The distillery was built in 1800. It changed hands many times and was eventually bought over by Eddie Cairns in 1969. He rebuilt the distillery and eventually sold Auchentoshan to Morrison Bowmore distillers in 1984 and Suntory invested in 1989. In May 2014,Beam Inc. and Suntory Holdings Limited merged to create Beam Suntory Inc, who are now the owners of Auchentoshan and other Morrison Bowmore holdings.
Special bottling’s are released periodically and the distillery has a visitor centre and conference facilities, both completed in 2005, and is open to the public for tours every day.
Auchentoshan have performed well in international competitions and received double gold medals at the 2008 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
