Tasting Notes-Brora 40 Year Old 200th Anniversary

Magnificently smoky and richly flavoured.

Brora Distillery-Sutherland

The distillery began life 200 years ago in 1819 named Clyne Lish. By 1896 its whisky was said to be one of the most highly prized malts.

A new building was built 1967-1968 and the old distillery building continued to make a heavily peated malt known internally as Brora.

It was publicly renamed Brora in April 1975 when a new mash house was opened.

Distilling ceased in 1983 and only much later did mature releases show that Brora was one of the world’s great single malts.
