Lithe, supple, powerfully confident and a dram more than the sum of its parts. Slow trickle distillation is the hallmark of this muscular, oily spirit.
Vanilla led, caramel, hints of smoke but tamed back. candied apple, gooseberry and marzipan.
Soft yet powerful and warming on the palate, peppery, barley sugar, smokey – dried earth and hints of rubber. Warm sand, sweetness of charred oak and pineapple.
Sweetness from tablet/fudge and a strong peat smoke and cold marine air combination.
Notes from Bruichladdich
Is found on the Rhinns of the isle of Islay in Scotland. The distillery produces mainly single malt whisky but has also offered artisanal gin. It is one of eight working distilleries on the island. Bruichladdich was built in 1881 by the Harvey brothers and a state of the art distillery developed from old farm buildings.
It changed owners over 40 years several times. It was bought over in 2012 and went into full production in 2013.
Today about 16 farms grow barley for the distillery and passionate about the barley used to make their whisky.
