Tasting Notes-Cameronbridge-Gordon & MacPhail 21 Year Old
Subtle sherry aromas complement cocoa powder and vanilla fudge.
Sweet and creamy, candied citrus peel flavours join toasted malt and mature oak.
A delicate herbal note develops on the finish.
The distillery sits on the banks of the River Leven near the town of Windygates and approximately 15 miles north of Edinburgh.
About 1655 Robert Haig operated a still on the site and in 1824 one of his great grandchildren, John Haig, built and opened the Distillery.
John’s cousin, Robert Stein, built the first still and is still in use today. The distillery has expanded and also renovated many times and only closed briefly during World War II. It is now one of the oldest and largest distillery’s in Scotland that operates 24 hours a day.
Owned today by Diageo its portfolio spirits include grain Whiskies, blends, Smirnoff Vodka, as well as Tanqueray and Gordon’s Gin.
