Of sea salt, dry seaweed, peeling boat varnish and warm sand on a base of smoldering peat.
Unexpectedly rich and sweet before a growing spiciness comes through, with a pinch of salt and chilli-pepper.
Long, spicy and drying.
Notes from the distillery.
Brothers Hugh and Kenneth moved to Skye from the Island of Eigg and built the distillery at Carbost in 1830. It was later leased to Donald McLellan in 1857 who went bankrupt in 1863 and eventually leased to John Anderson in 1866.
Over the years the distillery changed hands and by 1898 under Dailuaine-Talisker Distillery.Co.Ltd. their whisky became one of the best selling single malts in Scotland. In 1916 the distillery was again taken over by John Walker and Sons along with John Dewar and Sons.
Like many other distilleries it had to close during war. Today is one of the oldest distilleries on the Island of Skye.
Famous for being full bodied, having rich character and being powerfully peppery.
